A total of 2,306,664 international workers were registered last year in Spain, marking an increase in employment for the seventh consecutive month, according to the figures provided by Spain’s Sociality Security.

Such figures show that there are 16,565 more jobs registered in December, compared to the previous month’s figures. In addition, the numbers reveal that 100,000 more international workers have been registered compared to February 2020 before the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic and its new strains, SchengenVisaInfo.com reports.

“In terms of average affiliation, Social Security had 2,269,806 foreign contributors in December, of which 791,306 came from EU countries (34.86 per cent) and 1,478,5000 from third countries (65.14 per cent). This is 6,525 more employed media than in November,” the statement published by Spain’s government reads.

According to the announcement, citizens from the following countries account for the largest groups of employed people in Spain:

  1. Romania (331,739)
  2. Morocco (285,501)
  3. Italy (140,387)
  4. China (107,143)
  5. Venezuela (106,264)

Of them, a total of 56.66 per cent were men (1,286,201), while 43.34 per cent were women (983,605).

“By autonomous communities, the greatest increase in the number of foreign affiliates corresponds to the autonomous city of Andalusia (3.76 per cent) and Castilla-La Mancha (1.77 per cent). The Canary Islands (0.89 per cent), La Rioja (0.48 per cent), the Community of Madrid (0.40%), and the autonomous cities of Ceuta (0.30 per cent) and Melilla” the statement has emphasized.

At the same time, the most profound declines were recorded in the following territories:

  1. Extremadura (-5.56 per cent)
  2. the Balearic Islands (-5.17 per cent)
  3. Cantabria (-1.52 per cent)
  4. Galicia (-1 per cent)

The report also shows that the number of internationals in the self-employed regime increased by 0.21 per cent in the last month.

Besides, during the last twelve months, the number of internationals engaged in different jobs in Spain increased by 9.20 per cent. previously reported that a total of 2,290,099 overseas workers were registered in Spain in November, marking an 11.58 per cent increase to the total number of affiliates.

Based on the data provided by the country’s Social Security, an increase of over 29,320 jobs in November was recorded, compared to the previous month’s figures. The numbers also revealed that 100.000 more workers were recorded compared to February 2020 figures
